This isn\u2019t accidental degradation, but intentional design choices aimed at nudging users towards subscriptions, upsells, or ad exposure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Examples the Peers discuss include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Getting a \u201cpremium\u201d experience temporarily, then losing it unless you pay<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Making it easy to sign up but frustratingly hard to cancel<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Designing mobile apps that force you onto desktop for key actions like unsubscribing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cookie banners and friction-heavy consent flows<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>UX patterns that prioritise business goals over user experience (e.g. CarPlay\u2019s rigid UI rules)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The group reflect on how this gradual decline in delight has eroded pride in product quality. AI tools, for now, feel delightful by contrast because they\u2019re still in the VC-funded honeymoon phase, but this too may fade.
